I traded my MC6500 (and sold my motorcycle) to buy the Horizon and it was sssoooo worth it. I have the Janome Gem platinum and then got the 6500 and now the Horizon and it is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoever the designers were of this machine knew exactly what they were doing. I don't even know if there is anything that could be better. I love the Acufeed and when I did the free motion quilting it was fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!
Janome this is the BEST and I sure will be passing the word along at my quilt group and quilt shop.
Congratulations!
Peggy
I went to my dealer on Saturday Morning early to see the New Horizon. I purchased my Horizon on May 1st the day of the unveiling. I was sold on the Horizon the first time I saw it on my computer. I called my Sewing Store and told them I was going to buy the Horizon the day of the unveiling. I have worked a little as of right now. But I Love all the new features. I like the way it's user friendly. I traded in a 6600 for the new Horizon. I hoping to take classes on the Horizon real soon. I already own a 11,000 and a Jem Platinum 760 (that I take to classes). I just Love all your sewing machines.
Thank You Janome a beautiful machine!

They've truly simplified the look and feel of the machine. It's not a megatron machine that you'll never be able to take to classes.
The lighting is amazing. I figured 5 lights..big deal. They'd just be 5 sucky ones. They are strategically placed in usable positions and you aren't looking at shadows.
They've improved the visibility of the Accufeed system. It's not clunky anymore and easy to look behind while sewing. It's easy to take on/off and I didn't realize that the plate automatically goes to a single hole when doing straight stitches until I went online.
Speed. It's still 3 speeds but they've improved the quality of them. I wasn't annoyed like I was on the 6600. The machine is far more responsive and stops when you do instead of going on with another couple of stitches. It's extremely quiet and hums along.
Janome put a lot of thought into this machine and I couldn't really see any serious flaws that drove me incredibly insane while using it. I love the simplicity of it and how responsive it was.

I am a professional quilt maker and quilting teacher. I do some free motion quilting for others, as well. I have been sewing on a 6600 for a couple of years. When my dealer (Paramount in Eugene, OR) told me about the Horizon a couple of months ago I knew I would be getting one. I ordered it the day it was introduced. The new Horizon is even better than I expected. It is sturdy. It is quiet and smooth. The lighting is great. The extra room is a huge help for free motion quilting. I can't wait to explore all those stitches. What a GREAT machine. I have an MB-4 and I plan on keeping my 6600 as well. I love JANOME!

My new Horizon 7700 is so much more than I had hoped for. While wanting the large harp area for quilting was the biggest reason for my checking out the machine, I was so impressed with many of the other wonderful features. The lighting is so much better than I expected. The stitch quality with the automatic tension has been outstanding, but what has given me the most unexpected pleasure is the free motion quilting. It is smoother, stitches more even on both the front and back, and has improved my skills already. I am a fairly recent convert to Janome and could not be happier with my machines and the service and knowledge of my dealer, SuperStitch in North East, PA.
Sincerely,
Bonnie J.

I purchased my new machine from Paramount Sewing Center in Eugene, Oregon. I am very impressed with the quality. I am presently working on a quilt and the straight stitching with the D1S is so much more exact than my other machine. I took my first instruction class and am playing with the programming and find it very user friendly. I can hardly wait to try the free motion quilting soon. I absolutely am amazed at the difference the 11 inches from needle to motor housing makes from the 7 inches that my previous Janome had. I think that this machine is going to make my sewing and quilting much more enjoyable.

Okay, I'm NOT a "sew-er". Between my mom (a talented seamstress) and the requisite home economics class, I learned the basics, but never liked sewing. I began quilting five years ago, laboriously piecing five tops on a 22-year-old Montgomery Ward machine which, on its' very best day, was temperamental. When it died several weeks ago, I went to a Janome dealer (The Quilted Quail, Ridgecrest, CA) on May 3rd to look at another Janome machine. My husband, like most guys, is interested in the newest and best tools, so he kept eyeing the just-unpacked Horizon on the table. While I was intimidated by the Horizon during the demo, he was fascinated. To make a long story short, he bought the Horizon for me. I am amazed at how easy the Horizon is to use -- I love this machine! I pieced two quilt tops in the first week, and after some more practice, I'm going to quilt them on the Horizon. Sewing with the Horizon is as much fun as riding my Harley, lol! At this rate, all four of our grandkids will get a quilt from Grandma!
Thanks, Janome, for such a great machine.

Well, Janome has succeeded once again by listening to what their customers wanted, improving on those thoughts, and now we have the Horizon 7700. When I got my Janome 6500 when they first came out, I fell in love with it. I had had other top-of-the-line machines from other top companies, but I just hadn't loved them the way I did the 6500--it was my perfect machine. Or so I thought; then I tried the 6600 when it came out, and realized it was even better! Once again, I couldn't imagine how a machine could get better, except maybe to have even more harp space. And now we have it, the Horizon 7700!
Recently, I gave the 7700 sewing machine a quick test drive, and (as I always do) tried to make it sew poorly by using poor technique when free-motion quilting. I couldn't get it to sew badly! The automatic tension worked like a dream, and Oh! the extra harp space and light! Plus, there are some cool new features like the automatic straight-stitch throat plate and some really fun decorative stitches. I was a bit leery of the touchscreen because I prefer knobs and buttons, but the touchscreen was intuitive and easy to use on the first try even for someone like me!
I am really looking forward to years of sewing on the Horizon 7700--a sewing machine that is a great value for the price. I'm in love all over again...here's to new horizons in sewing!

I am really pleased with my new 7700. Where do I start? It's the small things-like the lighting. I have a clear view on all sides with no shadows. It runs so quiet and so smooth. The memory feature is so easy to use. The stitches are easy to select and it's is nice to have them right at eye level and dial them up. I really love the convenience of the touch screen. I especially like the alphabet stitches. The push button start-stop and the automatic thread cutter were one of the selling points in selecting this machine. It is nice to be able to use both hands when I thread the needle. The table coming with the machine was an extra that I appreciated. The many additional feet and free motion foot is a plus.
I have a 14 foot APQS Longarm that I use for "customer" quilting but it doesn't work very well for small projects like table runners, place settings etc. The extra width between the needle and the arm on the 7700 will be wonderful, as well as the built-in walking foot, for quilting smaller projects.
This is my 6th Janome machine. My last machine was a Memory Craft 3000 so you can see why I'm so very pleased with all the features and extras included on the 7700. My quilting group is amazed about the many features and compared to what several paid for their machines, with many extras, the Janome is considerably more affordable.
Paramount Sewing and Vacuum has been so wonderful to work with and are available at anytime I have a question.

I've been sewing on my new Horizon for a couple of weeks now and absolutely LOVE it! The stitches are beautiful and it feeds so smoothly. It reminds me of an industrial machine - but without the "scary" factor. I love the feel of it and that's very important to me. The lighting is great, as are the sewing space to the right of the needle, the free arm and the large sewing table.
I love how you can easily save your stitch length and width settings to go back to, and then quickly move to another stitch selection. It's also easy to clear your own settings and go back to the defaults.
The AcuFeed feature is great—not just for quilting but also for garment construction and draperies and decorator items.
The only thing I haven't quite figured out yet is how to pull myself away from it!
I have been waiting for this machine to come along. Over the last few years I've test-driven a few machines, but was instantly sold on the Horizon. This will be my third Janome. The quality is consistent so I keep choosing this brand.

I just can't say enough good things about the new Horizon 7700. I've had it less than a week, and am continually even more pleased with the things it can do. With the first touch of the button, I could tell that it was sewing smoother. I sewed a purse, and it easily maneuvered the multiple layers of quilting fabric and batting without shifting with the even feed system. I pieced my block for the Thimbleberries club this week, using the APC (single hole plate converter) and no fabric was "sucked" down the hole! That extra 2 inches of space is wonderful. The 5 lights are fantastic....no more need for the a attached bright light that I had on my other one. I quilted with invisible thread, a challenge for most machines, and it handled beautifully, stitched out that faux hand quilting stitch easily. The Nancy Halverson wall hanging that I am doing needs buttons in the center. How much easier to put them on with the machine...button sewing foot was included....better than reaching under that large piece to find the needle holes by hand.
I've only just begun to discover the joys of using this machine, and am looking forward to discovering many more of it's awesome features. I immediately changed the default stitch length as I had on my other machine (6600). I "unsew" on a regular basis, and don't need those tiny little stitches. In my view, the 2.7 length looks more professional anyway. Now I just turn it on, and that's the way it is.
I had trouble leaving my 6600, because I thought it was the best sewing machine that anyone had ever made, and trust that it will find a good home where it is appreciated like I did.
I bought my machine from Edwards Sewing Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a business founded by Don Edwards, and now owned by his daughter, Lisa and her husband, Chad Kohli.....only the best repairman any where around....wouldn't want anyone else touching my machine! Don Edwards once fixed a machine for me that another place told me that couldn't be fixed any more. Mr. Edwards has been sick, and we are praying for him. Edwards isn't just a sewing machine store/quilt shop. It's a family....and a wonderful place to go. I recommend anyone come visit if you're in the area.
Thanks for listening, and for giving me the opportunity to share feedback on this wonderful new sewing machine.
Sincerely,
Nancy Gipson

I purchased the 7700P the first day it was available after having gone through an employee orientation on the machine. After that orientation, I knew I wanted that machine. I had the 6600P and knew that I didn't have room or need for both machines, so knew that I would have to sacrifice my 6600, which I loved, to be able to have the new machine. I sold the 6600 quickly and have been sewing on the 7700. I've been sewing for over 50 years and love the features of this machine. I love the acufeed system. I hardly take those feet off except to switch from 1/4" to ditch to normal stitching. I love the straight stitch converter. I liked it on the Marie Osmond machine, but now that I have it on a big quilting machine, I'm really enjoying that feature. I am pleased that there is the free arm capability. That was one thing I missed on my 6600. I have an 11000 also and really like the touch screen feature on the 7700. It is truly a great replacement/upgrade from my workhorse 6600 and will be getting it's workout in my sewing room. Thanks Janome for putting a newer better model to make my sewing more efficient and enjoyable.

Here's an interesting review on a recently purchased MC7700 Horizon by Leah Day, from her "365 Days of Free Motion Quilting" blog. We think you'll enjoy reading it, we did!

"I was at my sewing machine store when it opened, fell in love with the new Horizon... To make this short story, I am now the proud owner of a beautiful new sewing machine, The Horizon is fabulous! It has the features that I want and need...and then some! On top of it all, I was able to get a very good deal! It's heavy enough that I won't want to take it to classes, but I have a smaller Janome for that purpose! I'm a happy person! Thanks, Janome...good job!"
"I was the first person to arrive in my sewing Machine store on Saturday morning.. so glad because the store had a LIMITED quantity to sell. I was able to get my Horizon and take it home. I can hardly wait to start stitchin' on it! Thank you, Janome and Kings Sewing and Vac for this wonderful new sewing tool! It's as beautiful as it is functional!"
"Went to my dealer on Saturday morning, came home with the Horizon. Opened it up and started sewing Saturday night. Dream machine...I love it... Thank you Janome, you have another winner!"
"I missed the launch day for this machine and it was a good thing. It gave my husband a few days to adjust to the idea that I was sold on it and wanted it!!! It is unbelievable even if I'm a beginner. I love making small quilts and give them away! I do have to wait for my dealer to order it though but thats ok. It will give me time to take some classes and learn more. Congrats to all of you that have purchased and or are thinking about it."
"Wow! is all I can say. Besides all the great features, the machine is stunning. Stopped at my dealer this morning."
"Got my MC7700 yesterday. Love it. Lots to learn, great new stuff. Traded in a MC6500. Boy, what a difference."
"Horizon, what an awesome, awesome machine. Cannot wait to really have some fun with it. Janome truly does listen to their customers."
"I work as a salesman at a local sewing center with Janome machines, and when we unveiled the new Horizon on May 1st, we sold 3 machines within 35 minutes. What a great machine. It practically sells itself. Thanks for a GREAT machine. After demoing it, I want one as well."
"This is a great video! I was at my Janome dealer on 5/1... it didn't take long to fall in love... I was ready immediately to surrender my 6500 and take home the Memory Craft Horizon. My dealer offered me a trade that was extra, extra special and I made my purchase without a 2nd thought. I have so many projects lines up... I love my Janome... expect to use it just about every day!"
"I bought one last week. I've only used it once, but I love it so far! It's so quiet and so smooth :-D)"
"What a machine... the only thing it can't do is make coffee!"
"Love my new Horizon. My favorite features are the AcuFeed System, the extra lighting and most importantly, the Automatic Plate Converter. Hopefully I won't be breaking needles because I forgot to switch out my straight needle plate. Love, Love, Love it!"
"I just purchased the Horizon sewing machine -- what a beauty -- well worth the money, it does everything but cut out the patteren-I'm in Fresno, CA and US Sewing Maching Co. is the Janome Dealer -- they are the best -- will take real good care of your machine and you."
"I got a chance to check out the new Janome Horizon today, and let me tell you it's awesome."
"i love my new horizon!"
"ME TOO!!!!!!!!!"
"I see a 7700 on MY horizon! And, it matches my sewing room. Gotta get one :0)"

"I need to call the Dealer and get an app't. for lessons on this machine!!! It sews like a dream!!"
"I just purchased the Janome 7700 Horizon and I am here to tell you... this is an awesome machine. I loved my Janome 6600 and had a hard time parting with it until I got my hands on this machine... Janome has outdone themselves on a very fine machine at a reasonable price... PS: has 11 inch base on it! and no, I am not a salesperson, just a home sewer!"
"Traded in my Pfaff 7570 on a Horizon MC7700 in May and love it!!! Good job Janome on making the perfect machine."
"Just received a MC7700 Horizon yesterday. It's so quiet! Purrs like a kitten. I'm just a beginner, and I'm aware I got spoiled. :)"
"I traded in my 6500 for the Janome Horizon 7700. I love it! I just completed my first project from start to finish. I love all the great decorative stitches and I love the fact that I can do most of my sewing with my feet propped up and using the start/stop button. This is an awesome machine for the physically handicapped that can't use the lower part of their body!"
"Love mine! Hubby asked me why I need it because I have a Janome! Reminded him I bought it in 1987. It is still good as new but wanted to upgrade."
"I had the Memory Craft 6600 - used it a lot and loved it, but when I thought things couldn't get better... it did with the MC7700."
"I love mine. Great machine. I am fortunate to have mine so early."
"The Horizon is amazing, unbelievable! It has everything! And I love it!"
"Loved my 6600 and now love my 7700."
"I visited our local Janome dealer the other day. I "test drove" the Horizon 7700 and was so impressed. Sure would love to do a "trade in" and have a new Horizon!"
"I love my new MC7700 Horizon. It makes sewing so fast and easy!"
"How I love my my new Horizon, it does everything--even sew's a seam and then cuts the thread for me automatically. Just program how long the seam is and it stops and cuts. Can't say enough about this machine-and the US Sewing Co. that sold it to me."
"Just finished my first project totally done on the New Horizon. Pictures will be posted soon. This is a practice piece testing seam allowances, etc. Project has 18 seams across each side and with 2 borders should finish 39 1/2 x 39 1/4. Just measured it and it was SPOT ON! First time I have had such an accurate product. Problems over seams Some... but if I slowed down and used a stylus it was just fine! Great job Janome. And this is from a life time Viking user!"
"I love the Horizon. I got mine about a month and a half ago and have already completed several smaller projects from start to finish and am nearly done a quilt for my son. It is a pleasure to sew again."
"Can I tell you how much I love my MC7700 Horizon machine? His name is Heywould Janome and he is fun to play with. Makes this beginner sewist look like a pro!!!!! Thanks for designing such a wonderful machine!"
"A FB conversation:
SC: I went over the weekend and bought the new Janome 7700 :) How's that for 'falling' in love for a new machine? I'm a Bernina 730 user and this Janome's throat space is wonderful.
AB: The throat space is the first thing that got my attention... so many great features... I LOVE my Horizon and can't imagine ever wanting to replace it with anything else!
SC: Yes, the throat space was the first thing that got my attention as well but then saw the stitching on it too and fell in love. I have always been a huge fan of the stitch qaulity on the Bernina, but it's just as nice on this machine. I did however, remove that guide on the 1/4" foot. I've never used one of those before and saw that it was more in my way that anything else! LOL!
"My new Horizon is so functional. Love the binding attachment! The stitch quality by far is the best I have ever seen." |
